Richard Baronins was Designer and project manager for this project while at Verne Reimer Architecture. Balmoral Hall School is a private K-12 school for girls located on the Assiniboine River near downtown Winnipeg. The school needed new space for dance, music, and art, in addition to a new “innovation lab” for students. The new building was designed to take advantage of river views and created positive outdoor spaces for the students.

The three storey building is organized along interior gallery spaces that run the entire length of the building and look out to the river and bring in south light. The school wanted a raw materiality so the structure, mechanical system, and electrical conduit was left exposed. The floors were precast concrete planks with concrete topping that were polished and sealed. The exterior envelope of the building is composed of insulated metal panels and curtain wall glazing.
